How To Use Eva (puffy) Foam For 3D Embroidery

- Only use puffy foam with designs that have been digitized for 3D embroidery.
- Hoop the garment or cap as you would normally do.
- Always cut the foam slightly bigger than the area it will be covering.
- Elements that will be embroidered flat must always be stitched first, using a normal size needle.
- Once all flat embroidery is complete you can lay down the puffy foam.
- The foam must cover the area that needs to be embroidered fully.
- At this point, change to a thicker needle example size 12.
- Use white foam with light coloured thread and black foam with dark coloured thread.
- A light application of spray adhesive/double-sided tape can be used to temporarily fix the foam in place – SK 100 Spray adhesive is recommended.
- Begin embroidering your 3D design.
- Carefully tear off excess foam from finished embroidery.
- Neaten up rough edges with a low heat open flame or sharp embroidery scissors.
USE A SLOW SPEED FOR THE TACK-DOWN STITCHES TO SECURE THE FOAM TO THE FABRIC
DO NOT DOUBLE UP ON FOAM, USE ONLY ONE LAYER OF THE DESIRED FOAM THICKNESS
